The Project Fibonacci Foundation is looking to bring MOSART to downtown Rome by the beginning of 2023.
The foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, envisions MOSART (Multiverse of Science, Art and Technology) as a fully operational STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) center.
Fibonacci is looking to raise $1 million for the center.
“This is a chance for community members and stakeholders to step up and positively influence our future and build on the shoulders of its citizen youth for generations to come,” said foundation Chairman Dr. Andrew Drozd in a statement.
Drozd said Fibonacci has three locations already selected for MOSART. The foundation already has put in a purchase offer for its first pick, according to Fibonacci.
Fibonacci has operated out of The Beeches facility in Rome for numerous years, but decided it needed its own facility now that The Beeches was sold and is currently being renovated as a senior facility.
“We are serious and definitive about establishing roots in downtown Rome,” Drozd said.
The foundation said it will offer a limited, multitiered first-founders club for organizations, families, individuals, and other stakeholders who wish to make a major, tax-deductible donation towards the project on a first come, first served basis.
The Foundation will dedicate office rooms, building wings and founders’ bricks in the name of donors, family members or organizations to establish a durable community legacy.
ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC has announced it will contribute up to $50,000 to kick-start a corporate matching program, the foundation said.
Drozd said a center that centers on STEAM is important in the Mohawk Valley. Students are graduating and then leaving, he said, noting an importance of keeping the graduates local.
“What if we could capture lightning in a bottle by spotlighting our area’s contributions in science, art and technology all in one place and present it in a compelling way,” Drozd asked.
